our marble bathroom tour: before and after

Hello (English) / Amaharo (Kurundi) / Amadi (Efik) / Bawo ni (Yoruba) from our finished bathroom (sans styling)! When we reflect back on how our bathroom used to be and how it is now, it gives us joy! I’m so delighted to share a tour of our bathroom now and look back to where we started. The bathroom was one of the first places we completed renovating and was probably our biggest challenge as interior novices. For us, as stated in our video, the bathroom concept is all about sanctuary…

family bathroom inspiration

As you saw in my before bathroom tour, the bathroom needed some serious modern loving. Frankly, I wasn’t sure turning on the dated shower mixer would be wise, either would it be safe to brush our teeth using water from led pipes. However, I will be honest, the project did scare me a bit. The thought of just replacing the bath wasn’t cutting it either, but thank goodness for Pinterest and Houzz. Our family bathroom was inspired by this Classic Romanic bathroom gorgeousness by McAlpine. The bathroom didn’t get to…

OUR FAVOURITE GARDEN PINS

house before tour: the bathroom + upstairs wc

Our bathroom before was a pretty functional space, expected of somewhere that had it’s last renovation pre 1970s. It had a pretty large tub, blue tiles which were quite dated but I kind of liked. However, the tiles were just on the perimeter of the bath and the sink. If it wasn’t for the lead pipes, we would have used it until we were able to renovate it. Back on the tiles, I did like the little tile soap tray! I think this bathroom could have been made bigger with…

house before tour: the garden

How blessed is this space? Wide, and full of potential to play! How do I describe the garden? The space was arranged in very low but super wide raised beds, perfect for someone who is super experienced at gardening. However, we are yet to gain our green thumb shiny gold badge, hence, we had to transform this space! This garden has so many outbuildings! A shed, two mini looking outbuildings and two garages. We were also blessed with a whole host of beautiful shrubs and trees including a Camellia tree…

house before tour: the kitchen/ breakfast nook

Personally, the kitchen was odd. I guess the layout didn’t help, but the placement of the cabinets felt very disjointed. The kitchen certainly had this very functional utility feel to it. One thing I loved though was the little pantry room next to the sink and under the stairs, as well as the really high ceiling. Behind the cabinet is a fireplace. It’s a shame it is all boarded away. To the left of the fireplace housed a huge water tank. And, the floor was carpeted! A big no no.…

house before tour: the living Room

You know the room that gives happy feel? This is the room. It has a door to the sunroom and large bay windows on the opposite wall so this room is flooded with light. The ceiling is high too. Of course, we have to revamp everything. Literally clean it all out. This room was swapped with the playroom to become our front room, purely because it is smaller than the playroom. The children obviously need more space! We can’t wait to share how we transformed this space, especially opening up…

house before tour: the upstairs bedrooms

Welcome to our bedrooms! We love love love the space. The ceiling on room number two! However, the ceiling of room number three wasn’t to my liking. The lighting configuration was odd. The pendants were all next to the window. That was one thing that was going to change, plus the removal of the tiled fire places, hopefully restored to something a bit more grander. Bedroom no 3 was clad with in units which covered the fireplace, making it significantly smaller. It also housed another boiler so, that needed to…
