The Poor Hath Hope

I am currently re-reading a short bible searching course on wisdom, starting with Job. Job was a pretty extraordinary man. His deep rooted confidence in God challenges me, I mean, take a deep look into the book of Job and you will know why.

I often try to think of solutions to world imminent problems, especially physical and spiritual poverty. Well, Jesus is the true complete answer. Lets see what Job says about solutions in the international development context:

I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields: To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety. He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong. They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty. So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth. (Job 5:8-16 KJV)

Did you read that? THE POOR HATH HOPE!!

In NIV, it says that we, you and me should spend less time talking and more time praying. We can appeal to Governments, industries, businesses, consumers, but we really should Appeal to God. “But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. (Job 5:8 NIV)
Hey! Who is God? Job 5:9-15 gives me an insight. I am currently away on a retreat (camp meeting) with my church, and during sunday school, our sunday teacher asked us the one mind searching question of Who is God? How long has He been around? Of course, He is very big and yet so small to be in our hearts, and been around for a pretty long time!
One particular guy summed God up in one sentence.

God created the universe and time; He cannot be limited by His creation

So, that is who GOD is! So, can’t He implement policies bigger and better than what our limited minds can comprehend? Didn’t He give Joseph wisdom to plan for the future of a Nation? Did He not save massacre of a nation through a Queen? Did He not save a nation from being extinct because of spiritual poverty through sending a message through Jonah?

Lets get our knees bending, for it is ‘prayer that moves mountains away’.
