When David Said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1 KJV), I felt no different!! It was a joy!! No matter where you are, the house of God is the House of God!!
Serene. A place to be serviced. A place to worship God.
Here in the Diocese, there are many choirs, but the major choir is formed of fired-up youths for Christ! I joined them for the first time in their morning prayer, and Boy, we really reminded God that He is truly Alpha and Omega.
You see, God’s word is powerful. It is a book that contains all virtue for a lifetime, irregardless of where you are, the country, the culture, the situation.
The bible portion which the youth choir leader talked on …was so relevant, Psalm 55. I have testimonies stored up. The most reassuring thing was that an uncle emailled to let me know what the sermon on was in London. Here is a quote from it “The devotional service was a very powerful sermon by Bro Odudu on “Saints in the hands of a righteous God” he used the lives Moses, Elijah and Paul to let us know that we may have troubles but God is in control of our lives, even when it doesn’t make sense!
Some of their characteristics which I recall were: they had privileged upbringing, the loved God whole heartedly, they where focused on Heaven and saw God by being alone with Him, they had a troubled ministry which made them encounter problems just like we do despite them being strong! One thing I personally gained was that. “to endure any problem on this Christian journey, we must pray!” Isn’t the spirit of God one!!
He then spoke on Namaan’s wife slave. A girl who made a difference in the midst of adversity. That challenged me and became a turning point on my thought processes. What am I really doing to impart health into anyone I meet? Am I really sharing the good news. It is a message of humility and also of great strength. She had courage, she had purpose, and her conditions did not limit her. She became part of the testimony in Namaan’s life.
After the blessed hour of fellowship and prayer, I waited in the church for the service to start. The choirs, the Children choirs, the congregation…we all made a JOUFUL noise to the Lord. I wondered how Christ must have felt hearing such melodious harmonies. It made me think of heaven. Imagine heaven. Imagine playing an heavenly harp….or even an heavenly keyboard, or an heavenly drum!
Later, I went to observe children’s sunday school. Another challenge, I mean, the little boys at the back made serious drumbeats from their wooden chair and kerosene canister. Jesus truly loves the little children. The teacher imparted the Word, the accepted, they prayed.
Well, it was truly a blessed day!!
Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee. (Psalm 55:1-23 KJV)
