Here is my top birthday dress to impress styles to wear your baby or toddler girl this spring summer. Let me provide some context to this. When I was pregnant, over 2000% of people minus 0.1% said I will have a boy. All I could do was dream of my missed opportunities to buy a zillion dresses, puffy dresses, long dresses, short dresses, pinafores, dungarees (does that count as a dress?). Slowly, I began to warm up to the idea that I may have to jazz up beige baby boy chinos with suspenders , quirky bow ties and herringbone flat caps. I was prepared to dress anybody in my version of pretty. I pinned like crazy….hahaha, for boy mamas out there, who may want a little extra inspiration, check out my kids wear pinterest.
The prediction was so set that I even received tracksuits for baby boys and blue related nursery items. BUT Lo! And Behold! I found I out I was having a sweet baby girl at my baby shower! Oh the joy, that flooded my soul! Hahahaha. After then, I went crazy looking for the slightest thing that was skirt and dress an the in-betweens! My mum joined in too. Actually, before mum even knew the gender, she gifted our baby two super cute dresses. I asked mum what will happen if it is a boy, she said he will wear it! The situation was chronic! Well, my sweet little darling was born and of course I had control over making her look sweet. HOWEVER, my little one is becoming her own person and I am sensitive to it. Although she looks adorable in massive bows and tutus, she is very erm…au naturel! She wants to crawl and roam without restrictions of tulles and nettings. She wants to see and feel her legs too! So it has been lots of rompers and leggings.
The occasion is different today. She turned one. A dress had to rise to the occasion. Hence, I thought why not share all the beauties I have seen either online or in person which were my favourites. Wedding season is drawing nigh, so this list many inspire your little darling to be the Belle of the Ball. Please note that although I love and encourage independent retailers and small businesses, I understand that prices can be steep. Hence, this list of birthday dresses is a curated mix of high street, independent and the luxury couturiers for the budget-less!
How sophisticated is this dress? I mean…off shoulder, linen look, bang on timeless (yes, I didn’t say trend!) “I believe children’s clothes should be multicultural wearable art”…this has got to be the quote of the children wardrobe styling! I totally agree with you Tuchinda. You can buy one from them but they are all the way in the US 🙂
b) Louis Louise
Chic Chic Chic! Perfect for a summer birthday party, or even a wedding. And no (yes), your baby girl won’t (will) upstage the bride. There is something dainty that I love about this dress. Maybe it is the cotton crepe or the gold buttons or the flouncy sleeves…who cares, it’s super chic. Available direct from Louis Louise.
c) Love by NellyStella
Ok, these are two dresses instead of one. I couldn’t decide. Alice Dress and Mae Dress. Swoon!! Such beautiful ceremony or flower girl dresses. They are dreamy, fanciful and so playful too. I’m sure every little girl would look like a princess in them. You can get the Alice dress from AlexandAlexa.
Came across these gorgeous dresses at a Fancy London pop up shop and ever since then, I practically (and cheesily) dream and wish to have nearly all their dresses! Very haute couture…and totally wearable this spring summer. Get yours at Fancy Kids London.
This dress is super girly and floral. In the end, we went for this super floral piece as it simply embodied Cocospring. Such as showstopper. Available at Monsoon.
f) Nicki Macfarlane
It is silk, it has frills, a massive bow and a v back. It wins. Yes yes it is a bridesmaids or flower girl dress, but hey, when it is the utter expression of girly-ness who cares the occasion? I dreamt Nicki Macfarlane when I was getting married and wanted this particular style of silk dress for my little ones to wear. However, you know how budget works in weddings, some things simply remained on the dream list! Available at Les Trois Soeurs.
Shut it down. How super remarkable is this dress. Ok, it is for older girlies, but bookmark this designer because she has some gorgeous occasion dresses. Available at Children’s Salon.
h) Primark (Primarni!)
I recently went to see their spring summer collection at a press event and they had some real pretty dresses. My favourite has to be the ivory lace dress with cute little sequins embellishments. So, budget is no excuse to making sure your little one looks swoon worthy at any party! Available at Primark.
i) Tutu Du Monde
This dress “beneath my wings” is simply a reflection of this dreamy, fun, whimsy brand. This tutu dress is simply….ahhh. Feathers, embellishments, ballerina…enough to make any little girl feel like a fairy dancing princess. Based in Australia but available to buy direct from them or from stockists in the UK. This dress is available at Elias & Grace.
(and for those who want their own one of a kind heirloom piece, they do bespoke!)
j) Petite Livrie
Got a dress dream, you can commission petite livrie to do it! Have you seen the dresses they have made for @momcrushmonday and @thedaddyfashionstylist (as pictured above)? Honestly, one day one day, I hope to get Isabel a custom made dress from them! You even get a little sketch (I would so frame it…hahaha). Check out their instagram and you can order your bespoke dress for your princess through their site. Definitely a dress to impress!
I couldn’t end without a least one spanish brand dress! hahaha. And this sweet ruffle neck dress will bring out the belle birthday chic in your little daughter. Available to buy from Labube.
This curated list is simply what I love and would wear on Isabel for her birthday as dresses. Isabel even approved some with oooh and aaah. Might have a little fashionista to hand.
Here are some pictures of Isabel wearing this floral showstopper from Monsoon. Headband is also from monsoon and her shoes are from Vibys. How sweet does she look?
