BABY BATH TIME ESSENTIALS

I know it can be a nightmare to find baby bath time essentials hence I am sharing what we use to give Isabel her lovely smooth skin glow, that is natural, gentle and effective. Prior to having a baby, I was turning very pro-natural. I use greek yoghurt and apple cider vinegar to condition my hair, reverted to avocado oil to moisturise my skin and using Ren for the shower. Naturally, I totally scouted for natural based products for Isabel. I was blessed that I had a number of momma friends when I pregnant who were also very pro natural and they all passed down a extensive list of what I should get for Isabel’s arrival. It was pretty overwhelming, especially as I couldn’t afford a lot of things on the list! I had to google and prioritise and use a lot of my inner gut feeling!

When Isabel turned 1 month, a friend recommended Neal’s yard for her dry skin. I haven’t turned back. So here is our baby bath time essentials list.

Baby Bath & Shampoo: Gently cleanses delicate skin and hair. Organic infusions of chamomile and lavender are blended with mild vegetable based cleansers to care for delicate skin. We used this after changing from Baby & Blossom baby wash.

Lavender essential oil & coconut oil: We put a drop of Lavender EO into coconut oil and place in the bath water. We did this when Isabel was first born instead of using any baby wash and has stayed as a pattern ever since then. Lavender EO is a calming and familiar antiseptic oil whilst coconut oil is anti-oxidant.

Baby Lotion: A light, moisturising lotion to enrich and protect the skin from dryness. Soothing aloe vera cools and comforts the skin while essential fatty acid rich starflower and olive oils provide nourishment. I started using this when Isabel turned 3 months. Prior to that, I used just baby balm.

Baby balm: Protects and calms the skin with a combination of gentle, moisturising ingredients, including olive oil, coconut oil and shea nut butter. Apply as required to dry or chafed areas, ideal for face, body or bottom. The oils lubricate the skin, while the beeswax and shea nut butter provide a thin protective layer that keeps normal skin moisture in and nappy moisture out. I actually used this from about 1 month.

Baby Massage oil: Calms and soothes delicate skin. 100% organic, with calming essential oils of rose otto and Roman chamomile, perfect for a wonderfully soothing, bonding massage. I attended baby massage classes and now use the techniques using this gorgeous smelling massage oil.

Bamford Baby Powder: An exceptionally gentle talc-free fine powder safe for use on babies. Apply after bathing and under nappies to protect against irrupted skin. I use this to protect against nappy rash, when it is too warm and when I want Isabel to smell extra sweet!

We bought this bamboo muslin cloths to use as a bath time sponge because it is super soft. I think Isabel is going to use it until she is 20! After a zillion washes, it still retains its softness and it does the job. We also use it to brush Isabel’s teeth although we have now added Jack and Jill Silicone finger tooth brush into the mix, and use their organic blueberry toothpaste!

Love this. Will try the silicone finger brush for my little man – teeth cleaning is such a struggle; it’s too sensory (the wrong kind) for him.
